After 6 days of maceration, this wine was aged in 600lt French oak barrels for 18 months. The short maceration and storage in large wooden barrels guarantee a ripe fruitiness of sour cherries and a not too dense tannin structure.

The "Schönherr" vineyard is a very exciting and unusual vineyard. The vines are around 40 years old and their root system reaches deeper into the earth. As a result, highly exciting mineral notes can be reflected in the wine. Deep, dark notes of fruit and black pepper make this wine a real showcase for a top Veltliner with profile and aging potential.

The nose is fruity, elegant, racy and offers deepness as well as a fleshy/ripe fruit. It reveals notes of fleshy/ripe blackberry, plum, small notes of strawberry associated with touches of bright blueberry. The palate is mineral, juicy, well-balanced and offers a fine acidulous frame, freshness as well as precision, juiciness, a beautiful finesse of the tension as well as straightness (in finesse). Good length. Tannins are fine, elegant and racy. Very discreet hints of good bitterness (cocoa) and a discreet hint of grilled on the persistence.
